Tournament Rules

These rules apply to every Switch Gamers competition unless a specific tournament publishes its own additions on its event page.

1. Eligibility

  • You must have a registered, verified Switch Gamers account in good standing.
  • You must meet the minimum age of 13 years.
  • One account per person. Multiple accounts are grounds for disqualification.
  • Suspended and banned accounts may not enter any competition.

2. Registration and entry fees

  • Your place is confirmed only once your entry payment has cleared — not when you click register.
  • Registration closes at the published deadline, or when the field is full, whichever comes first.
  • Withdrawing before the bracket is drawn refunds your entry fee to your wallet.
  • Once the bracket is drawn, entry fees are non-refundable except where an administrator cancels the event.

3. Seeding and the draw

  • Players are seeded by rating so the strongest entrants meet as late as possible.
  • Where the field is not a power of two, the top seeds receive byes into the next round.
  • The draw is published immediately after registration closes and is final.

4. Match conduct

  • Be online and ready at your scheduled time. A no-show of more than 15 minutes forfeits the match.
  • Use default game settings unless the tournament page states otherwise.
  • Play the game as it ships. Modified games, exploits and external tools are prohibited.
  • A deliberate disconnection to avoid a defeat is recorded as a loss.
  • If a genuine connection failure occurs, report it immediately rather than restarting on your own.

5. Results

  • Submit your result as soon as the match ends, and keep a screenshot of the final score.
  • Your opponent confirms the result, or it is accepted automatically after 24 hours.
  • Submitting a knowingly false result is a serious breach and may result in a ban.
  • An administrator may verify or correct any result, and will record the reason in the audit log.

6. Disputes

  • Disputes must be raised within 48 hours of the match completing.
  • Attach evidence. A screenshot of the final score resolves most disputes immediately.
  • The match is frozen and any rating change reversed while the dispute is open.
  • The administrator's ruling is final, subject to the appeals process in the Fair Play Policy.

7. Prizes

  • The prize pool and its breakdown are published on the tournament page before entry.
  • Prizes are released to winners' wallets once an administrator has reviewed the final standings.
  • Disqualified players forfeit any prize entitlement.
  • Where an event is cancelled, entry fees are refunded in full.

8. Scheduling and cancellation

  • Switch Gamers may reschedule or cancel an event where circumstances require it.
  • If a tournament does not reach its published minimum number of players, it may be cancelled and all entries refunded.
  • Any change is announced to registered players by notification and email.

9. Conduct

Abuse, harassment and discriminatory behaviour towards any player, spectator or staff member will result in immediate removal from the competition and may lead to a permanent ban.

10. Changes to these rules

These rules may be updated. The version in force is the one published at the time a tournament's registration opens. Individual tournaments may add specific rules on their event page, which take precedence where they conflict with this document.
